Hack farm has a number of eco friendly accommodation options designed to help you slow down, immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the simple things in life.

Our funky horse inspired homestead is a traditional farmhouse and features a fully equipped Communal Kitchen, Outdoor Pizza Oven, Fireplace, Living Room and Dining Area. Guests love the welcoming and friendly communal vibe of the house. Wifi Available to house guests.

Check in is between 3pm and 7pm, Check out is by 11:30am.
Early/Late Check-ins can be organized by arrangement.

Green Foal Room

A little bit of comfort after your day of exploring Golden Bay, our Green Foal Room is the perfect choice for a private night’s rest. In this lovely horse themed room.

Bunk Room

Our bunkroom is located in our funky horse themed homestead. The perfect choice for a group of friends or the budget conscious traveler. Comfortable bunk beds give you the perfect place to rest your head after your day of adventures.

Blue Room

This twin-share room is a popular choice for friends travelling together. With funky art and a comfortable bed to rest your head, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to reminisce about your day’s adventures at Hack n Stay

Frequently Asked Homestead Questions

Definitely! Our property is dog friendly and we love having canine guests. You are responsible for your dog throughout your stay and we ask that you clean up after them and ensure polite interactions with other guests and animals.

Please keep your dog in the car until we have properly introduced them to our farm dog. Our farm dog MOE is territorial and needs to be on a leash for safety.

YES! We offer horse stays for just $10 per horse. Ride down to the beach, explore our trails or book in for a lesson on your very own horse.

Our house kitchen is fully equipped with the essentials like Coffee, Tea, Bread, Cereal and milk. However you’ll have to bring your own food for main meals and snacks.

We also highly recommend visiting the Historic Mussel Inn during your stay for a meal. 

Yes, Wifi is available for houseguests but please note that we are on a slow copper connection.
Wifi is suitable for planning your next adventure or general social media but not for watching movies/netflix.

Yes! We allow guests to stay with us for up to 60days and offer special weekly rates for stays over 30days.

No, the farmhouse is a communal area used by all house guests. While your room will be private, the lounge, living room, dining area and kitchen are all shared facilities with other house guests.


We often hear that the friendly communal vibes in the house are a highlight for our guests.

We love sharing our fresh produce but please always ask first before taking anything from our gardens.

There are also a variety of fruit trees on the property that you are welcome to enjoy.

No, The farmhouse is a family friendly area and a  completely smoke free zone for a minimum of 15m around the house as well. We ask that you respect this rule at all times.

All bedding is provided for your stay so no need to bring bedding.

Definitely! Just have a chat to Baerbel on or before arriving so we can take you through the lighting procedures for the pizza oven.

If you are bringing your dog with you, please let Baerbel know at the time of booking and keep your dog in your vehicle until you have had a chance to introduce them to our farm dog Moe who can be a little territorial at times.

Yes! We supply 16amp power to your car or campervan for a one off set up fee of $10. Please note winter rates may apply.

Our camp kitchen equipped with portable electric stove, dish washing area, Some Cups, Plates and Cutlery and picnic benches.

We Encourage you to bring your own cooking equipment in the peak saeason.

We also have a fridge/freezer to keep your food cool while you’re out and about exploring. 

Please make sure to clearly mark your food in the fridge.

Unfortunately Wifi is reserved for our house guests. Embrace the opportunity to immerse yourself in nature away from your devices.

The nearest free wifi is at the Mussel Inn. 

Yes! You can camp with us for a maximum of 60 days at any given time. For stays over a month long we have a special rate of $100/ week pp that includes free use of our laundry facilities.

Yes! all of the taps on site have potable water and you can fill up where ever you find a tap.

We have a washing machine available for use by our guests

$6 per load 

We don’t offer any drying machines but we recommend hanging clothing up at your campsite or in the barn to dry.

Nope, Our showers are included as part of your stay for paying campers.

 

Children under the age of 2 can stay for free but we ask that you book a separate slot for each member of your party over the age of 2.

We offer the cheapest camping rates in Golden Bay so we don’t offer any additional discounts for children over 2.

 

Horse Stay

Bring your own horse and enjoy a holiday away

Our vision for Hack ‘n Stay has always been a getaway for you & your horse! With our guest paddocks, holding yards and arenas, we have everything you need to keep your horse comfortable while you enjoy a Horse Riding Holiday away together. Use our Hack Track to access Patons Rock Beach or even hire a guide to show you the best spots around.

Frequently Asked BYO Horse Questions

Yes! We have plenty of space for floats to park on the property.

Our property has a 25m round yard, a cowboy challenge obstacle course, washdown bays, hitching rails, paddocks and dry lot areas available for guest horses.

We are an actively working trekking business but all facilities are available to guest horse stays provided they’re not in use by our team. 

Yes, while we do have grass paddocks available we do recommend bringing your own hay and hard feed. 

If your horse is barefoot we do recommend bringing at least front boots with you. Although the beaches are soft there are quite a few rocky areas that can be tough on horses feet.

Using our Hack track you’ll have access to hours upon hours of riding along the coastline. Ride to the historic Mussel Inn, enjoy a beer and some munchies before riding home or explore the every changing Rangihaeata inlet. Swim your horse in our horse friendly dam and go for a full moon ride to see the constellations of glow-worms on our track.
